TORONTO, Sept. 22, 2011 /CNW/ - Outwit, Outsmart and Outperform. In the battle for dominance in the reality genre, Survivor: South Pacific walked away ahead of the competition which included the new, highly touted series, The X-Factor. Survivor: South Pacific reigned supreme as 2.3 million (Ind. 2+, national) loyal fans tuned into Global versus The X-Factor's 2.2 million viewers on CTV. The win was even stronger in the key Adults 18-49 demographic with Survivor beating The X-Factor by 22%, and taking the night overall.

SURVIVOR 8PM DATA HIGHLIGHTS (All data A18-49 national, unless otherwise specified):

  • Survivor's 1.1 million viewers versus 921,000 for CTV's The X-Factor series premiere
  • Survivor increased its audience by 10% over last week's season premiere episode
  • 152% more viewers than CBC's Dragon's Den in the same time slot
  • 10% more viewers over next closest competitor of the night, CTV's CSI

Shaw Media also had another great night on the Specialty front with four of the Top 5 shows in the specialty core demo of A25-54. All around, Wednesday primetime was stellar for Shaw Media with 9.9 million viewers tuned into Shaw Media stations (A2+, 8-11p, Total Canada).
