Suroco Energy Inc. extends deadline for entering into mutual agreement with Alentar Holdings Inc.


    CALGARY, Aug. 1 /CNW/ - Suroco Energy Inc. (TSX Venture Exchange: SRN)
(the "Corporation") announces that effective July 31, 2008, it has extended
the deadline to August 15, 2008 for entering into a mutually accepted
definitive agreement with Alentar Holdings Inc. ("Alentar") in respect of the
proposed arm's length transaction with Alentar that was previously announced
in the Corporation's July 21, 2008 press release.

    The Corporation is a Calgary-based junior oil and gas company, which
explores for, develops, produces and sells crude oil, natural gas liquids and
natural gas in Western Canada, the United States of America and Central and
South America. The Corporation's common shares trade on the TSX Venture
Exchange under the symbol SRN.

    The TSX Venture Exchange has in no way passed on the merits of the
proposed transaction and has neither approved nor disapproved the contents of
