Sun Media and the Journal de Montreal fooled the entire media world from the USA to Europe

MONTREAL, May 15 /CNW Telbec/ - Sun Media and the Journal de Montreal,
after their stunt in 2003, which was to illegally infiltrate the Raelian
Religion, completely fooled the media world. Without adequate research and
under the influence of Sun Media, the FPJQ (Federation Professionnelle des
Journalistes du Quebec) was conned into giving the two journalists the
presigious Judith-Jasmin award. The Sun Media machine pushed its lobbying to
such extremes that it allowed the two journalists to appear on CNN, France 3
and TF1 as well as other shows.
Brigitte McCann and Chantal Poirier infiltrated the Raelian Movement
using false identities and took hundreds of clandestine photographs. Then they
wrote, with dishonest intentions, a series of articles on the Raelian Religion
in the Journal de Montreal and the Journal de Quebec in October 2003. They
also published several photographs of members, without the members' consent,
causing them important material and moral prejudices (loss of contracts and
jobs, loss of dignity, honor and reputation etc.). On March 31st 2009,
following a complaint by two Raelians, the Court of Quebec concluded that
McCann's report, published in the Journal de Montreal in October 2003, was
documented using unjustifiable clandestine methods, which constitutes a fault
on the part of Sun Media Corporation. (cf2009 qccq 3263 on
or (
Raelian Bishop and spokesperson Daniel Chabot declared: "We will make
sure that all major television networks where McCann and Poirier appeared will
receive an explanatory letter as well as this judgment. It is obvious that
this sort of low-brow journalism completely undermines the credibility of
Quebec media and in particular that of Sun Media Corporation, in addition to
trivializing the practice of true investigative journalism. In fact, all
Quebec media are losing their credibility since the Fédération Professionnelle
des Journalistes du Québec granted the Judith-Jasmin award to these two
journalists in 2004. Of course, this Federation would have every advantage in
retracting the award, otherwise it would continue to be a party in this
serious journalistic fault".
Whatever happens, the verdict of Honorable Judge Grenier, which sets a
legal precedent, represents a great victory for human rights and freedoms in
Quebec and in particular for the rights and freedoms of Raelians.

Today, the Raelians invite the population to come celebrate their joy
with them, in front of the offices of the Journal de Montreal, 4545 Frontenac
at 1 pm this afternoon. This will be followed by a public gathering in
Dorchester Park (corner of Peel and René-Levesque) at 3pm followed by a
celebratory march on Ste-Catherine Street.
