Successes Take the Spotlight in Canadian Television Fund 2006-2007 Annual Report

    TORONTO, Dec. 18 /CNW/ - The Canadian Television Fund (CTF) released
today its 2006-2007 Annual Report, available at The
publication includes detailed analysis about CTF funding streams and the
projects they support, success stories of CTF-funded productions, and audience
measurement reporting unique to the CTF.
    "The past year was unquestionably a year of challenge and opportunity in
the rapidly changing environment of Canadian television - but also one of
incredible achievement for CTF-funded productions," said CTF President,
Valerie Creighton.

    Highlights from the 2006-2007 Annual Report include the following:

    -   CTF revenues increased by 5%, totalling $288 million;
    -   509 productions were funded;
    -   $240 million was allocated to 66 Canadian broadcasters via
        Broadcaster Performance Envelopes;
    -   $9.6 million was provided in development funding to 361 projects in
        English, French and Aboriginal languages;
    -   $10.5 million was provided to French-language production outside of
        Quebec (31 productions in five provinces);
    -   $2.8 million was provided to Aboriginal-language production (a total
        of 15 productions).

    Thanks to a project initiated by the Canadian Television Fund in 2003, in
collaboration with Canadian broadcasters, audience data suppliers and the
CRTC, the CTF can report on audience tuning to individual programs according
to genre and country of origin. As a result, the CTF provides a dedicated
section in its annual report on audience data, revealing a portrait of
domestic viewing of Canadian and foreign programming, including the
CTF-supported genres of drama, children's and youth, documentary, and variety
and performing arts.

investment and industry research, the Canadian Television Fund (CTF) supports
the development of Canadian talent, programs and audiences. Since 1995, the
CTF has contributed to the creation of over 25,000 hours of Canadian

triggering the production of over $8 billion of Canadian television.
