Stratford Mayor new Chair of Southwest Economic Alliance

    SARNIA, ON, Sept. 25 /CNW Telbec/ - The newly appointed Board of the
Southwest Economic Alliance (SWEA) introduced Dan Mathieson, Mayor of the City
of Stratford as the Chair of SWEA at noon today. The new SWEA Board was
elected this morning at the SWEA conference in Sarnia.

    Members of the new executive committee for SWEA are as follows:
    Chair, Dan Mathieson, Mayor of the City of Stratford
    Vice Chair, Randy Hope, Mayor of Municipality of Chatham Kent,
    Secretary, John Bezaire, Warden, County of Huron
    Treasurer, Jim Burns, Warden, County of Lambton
    Past chair, Greg Borduas, CAO, Municipality of Thames Centre

    "This is a great day for SWEA" says Dan Mathieson, Mayor of Stratford and
newly appointed Chair of SWEA. "The Southwestern Ontario Region is an economic
engine for Canada with over $750 billlion worth of Canada's annual trade with
the United States and 25% of Ontario jobs. SWEA will continue to work together
as a region to promote regional prosperity and create a competitive advantage
for Southwestern Ontario."
    The nominating committee presented the slate of nominees this morning at
the annual general meeting and the following 10 board members were approved:

    Two Year Term 5 members
    Diane Cunningham, Director, Lawrence National Centre for Policy and
    Management, Ivey School of Business
    Dan Mathieson, Mayor, City of Stratford
    Paul Holbrough, Warden, County of Oxford and Vice-Chair, Western Ontario
    Wardens Caucus, (WOWC)
    Eddie Francis, Mayor, City of Windsor
    Randy Hope, Mayor, Municipality of Chatham-Kent

    One Year Term - 5 members
    Bruce Hein, Proprietor, Express Employment Professionals, Sarnia
    Greg Borduas, CAO, Municipality of Thames Centre
    Dan Gieruszak, Principal, Transformation Services Group
    John Bezaire, Warden, County of Huron
