Steve Nash Celebrity Roast featuring a performance by John Legend

PHOENIX, AZ, Sept. 25 /CNW/ - The Steve Nash Foundation announced today
its first ever fundraising event in Arizona, the Steve Nash Celebrity Roast
benefiting underserved children. The event will take place October 12, 2007 at
the Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale.
This unforgettable evening offers fans and supporters a unique chance to
join Nash, the Phoenix Suns' star point guard and two-time MVP, for an evening
of lighthearted ribbing by a select group of his friends, teammates and
celebrities. Among those scheduled to attend are teammate Raja Bell, hockey
legend Wayne Gretzky, Steve's coaches, Dick Davey from Santa Clara University
and current coach from the Phoenix Suns, Mike D'Antoni, and Suns greats Dan
Majerle and Eddie Johnson. Five-time Grammy-winner and multi-platinum
singer/songwriter John Legend will give a special performance while
world-renowned chef, Charles Wiley, will create a delectable dinner and
The Steve Nash Celebrity Roast will begin with cocktails and a Steve Nash
Shootout followed by a gourmet dinner. Entertainment will include continuous
comedy, live music and an exciting live auction. Proceeds from the Steve Nash
Celebrity Roast will stay in Arizona, where the Foundation's education
initiative will improve outcomes for the state's most valuable players: kids.
"The stories that the public hears about Steve are reflections of who he
is at heart - he helps people, he puts ideas into action, and he cares about
people, about who they are," says Jenny Miller, Executive Director of the
Steve Nash Foundation. "The stories that you'll hear at the Roast are the ones
that - thankfully - don't make the papers. They show a slightly different side
of Steve off the court, and it's a very 'enlightening' one."
Individual tickets for the Steve Nash Celebrity Roast are $1,500 each and
overnight tickets are $4,000 for two. For reservations and ticket package
