Steelworkers and CN enter 'early' negotiations

TORONTO, Aug. 7 /CNW/ - The United Steelworkers (USW) has begun
negotiations with Canadian National Railway Company (CN) well in advance of
the December 31 expiry date of the current collective agreement.
The 3,200 members of USW Local 2004 work across the country maintaining
the railway's rights of way. Priority issues identified by workers include
family-worklife balance, pensions, overtime, contracting out, travel time and
more.
Further meetings with the company are scheduled for later this month.
The USW is Canada's most diverse union, representing more than 280,000
men and women working in every sector of Canada's economy.
