Statement to the Media from the Ontario Medical Association

TORONTO, April 19 /CNW/ - The Ontario Medical Association (OMA) strongly
supports increased awareness and education to improve organ donation rates in
the province of Ontario. Today, Bill 67, Organ and Tissue Donation Mandatory
Declaration Act is being considered by the Standing Committee of the
Legislative Assembly. The bill proposes that Ontarians over the age of 16 be
required to fill out their donor cards in order to obtain a driver's license
or health card. Ontario's doctors believe the steps outlined in the bill will
help improve donation rates, and we encourage all parties to work together to
implement the bill.
