Statement: OLG's former Board of Directors

TORONTO, Aug. 31 /CNW/ - Today, the Board of Directors of the Ontario
Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) collectively determined to resign their
positions as board members of OLG.
On August 27, 2009, Michael Gough, the Chair of the Board of Directors,
offered his resignation to the Honourable Dwight Duncan, Minister of Finance.
Mr. Gough tendered his resignation because of his belief that he, as Chair of
the Board of OLG, was ultimately accountable and responsible for the actions
of the corporation as they relate to a number of unacceptable executive
expense account claims. The Board is aligned with the Chair in accepting the
ultimate responsibility within OLG for the actions of the Corporation. Their
resignations will also be effective today, August 31, 2009.
Over the last few years, there have been substantial changes to OLG as a
result of the work of the Board and Management. The Board is proud of the
transformation that has been completed in implementing the recommendations of
the Ombudsman and KPMG, which have led to significant changes to player
protection and the integrity of OLG's lottery games.
