Statement from Kelly McDougald Re OLG termination

TORONTO, Sept. 11 /CNW/ - I would like to begin by expressing my deep
thanks to those many friends and former OLG colleagues who have reached out to
me during this very difficult and trying time.
During my time at OLG, I conducted myself ethically, professionally, in a
dedicated and disciplined way, intending always to meet or exceed the
expectations of the people of Ontario. While the transformation of this large
corporation is not yet complete, many initiatives have been well covered by
the media or in public accounts:

    - Last year OLG's net profit to the province on a year over year basis
increased by $73 million and the agency provided net profit of $158M
more than its provincial budget objective. This financial success was
achieved through strong operational leadership including cost
management and margin improvement, indeed maximizing the assets of
        the corporation.

    - New operational practices implemented under my leadership include:
extensive measures to prevent lottery retailer fraud, establishing
the Office of Player Protection, greatly expanded audit practices
including audits of expenses and procurement, and responsible gaming

The expense information released by the Ontario Government was done
without effort by government to either seek or provide context. While some of
these expenses were indeed inappropriate, others were business expenses
consistent with the operation of a $6.5B revenue generating corporation or
were part of the employee benefit contract, others were incurred prior to my
The actions taken against me by the Ontario Government were severe and
unjustified and I must therefore seek legal action to establish the facts and
restore my reputation.
I do not intend, at the present time, to elaborate on this statement in
any way. My notice of claim has been served on the Attorney General and on
counsel representing OLG and the Ministry of Finance. I have retained the
Toronto law firm of Grosman, Grosman and Gale to represent me. From time to
time, Mr. Brian Grosman Q.C. senior partner of the firm will provide updates
to requests sent by email to
