Statement from Hon. Greg Sorbara

TORONTO, Oct. 26 /CNW/ - Yesterday, in a personal chat with the Premier,
I advised him that I do not wish to be considered for a cabinet post as he
forms his next administration.
This decision has been the most difficult of my political life and the
most deeply personal.
For the past seven years, I have given the bulk of my energy to the
viability of my party and since October 2003 to the success of our government.
It is now time for me to redirect that energy to those who are more dear
to me than anything, my family.
My wife and I have massaged this decision since the polls closed on
October 10. We know it is the right one.
This decision will not compromise my commitment to the people of Vaughan
to represent them in the new Parliament as diligently as I can. But it will
give me time to look to those people who have looked to me for so many years.
It has been the greatest honour of my life to have served my Premier, our
government and the people of this magnificent province. Even more so I do
cherish the deep friendships I have made, particularly with the Premier.
I am leaving a job that I have truly loved and one where we have had a
significant measure of success.
    That too will I cherish.
