Starting August 3, 2007 - Free internet access for millions of visitors to the Quays of the Old Port promenade

MONTREAL, Aug. 2 /CNW Telbec/ - The Quays of the Old Port are going
wireless! Starting August 3, millions of visitors will have FREE Internet
access all along the Quays Promenade, from Maison des éclusiers at the western
end to Clock Tower Quay in the east - in other words, from McGill Street to
Berri Street. Wi-Fi access will also be available at the Port d'escale, in the
Jacques-Cartier Pavilion, and on the Science Centre terraces and grounds,
including the lawn between the Promenade and de la Commune Street.
"We are pleased to provide this service to our visitors, who will now
find it easier to get information about what's going on at the Science Centre
and on the Quays. They will even be able to access our online box office and
of course surf the Internet as they please," said Ms. Claude Benoit, President
and CEO of the Old Port of Montréal Corporation. "This new free service
underscores our desire to deliver constant improvements to the services we
offer our visitors, including both local residents and tourists, in the
process strengthening our standing as a Certifié Qualité Tourisme site meeting
BNQ standards." (The BNQ is the Bureau de normalisation du Québec, the
provincial standards organization.)
Visitors, together with people working in Old Montreal and in the Cité du
Multimédia, are invited to use the new service, which will allow them to work
in the Quays' delightful riverfront setting.
The service puts the Quays of the Old Port among the tourism and
recreation sites with the largest free Wi-Fi zones. According to the
President, it is one more way in which the Old Port of Montréal Corporation is
helping Montreal build a vibrant, avant-garde culture.
