Initiatives demonstrate corporate support for Canadian educators
TORONTO, Aug. 13 /CNW/ - Gone are the days of bringing bright red apples
to school to show teachers that they're appreciated. Students and teachers
alike can look toward their favourite back-to-school destination as a solid
source of appreciation. STAPLES Business Depot will be showing appreciation to
teachers during their annual Teacher Appreciation Days, and holding a contest
for students to share how their teacher made learning easy.
On August 14 and 21, 2008, STAPLES will host their annual Teacher
Appreciation events. Teachers across Canada are invited to visit their local
STAPLES Business Depot store on those dates to receive 10 per cent off all
in-store purchases, double DIVIDEND$ for Education rewards, bonus rewards with
selected Crayola products, and a special gift bag and coupon book valued at
more than $200.
"We have been hosting Teacher Appreciation days for more than five
years," says Caroline Quinn, director of marketing for STAPLES Business Depot.
"Each year, these events grow bigger and more successful. Teachers love that
we have set aside specific days for them to shop before the busy
back-to-school period begins."
In addition, STAPLES is launching a "Show Your Teacher Appreciation"
contest. Elementary and secondary students across Canada can visit
www.staplescontest.ca between August 11 and September 19 to submit a 200-word
entry on how their teacher makes learning easy. There's a chance to win one of
five $1,000 STAPLES gift cards for their teacher as well as one of five 4G
iPod nanos for their submission. One gift card and one iPod nano will be
awarded in each of the following regions: British Columbia/Alberta,
Saskatchewan/Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada.
