TORONTO, April 23 /CNW/ - Toronto Hydro-Electric System (Toronto Hydro)
is pleased to be a key participant at this year's Green Living Show, April 24
to 26 at the Direct Energy Centre at Exhibition Place. Fusing energy
conservation and environmentalism, Toronto Hydro has partnered with the
Ontario Power Authority, the Ontario Forestry Association, Trees Ontario and
the Forest Stewardship Council to create an information area focussed on
educating customers on electricity conservation and the critical role that
trees play in mitigating climate change.
There are three main structures within the space. The first section
features a tree log that will help visitors understand the life cycle of a
tree. New to Toronto Hydro's display is a giant carbon molecule that will
teach attendees about our environmental footprint and the critical role trees
play in carbon output. Also, the area will have a conservation house where
people can walk through and learn about Toronto Hydro's energy conservation
programs, smart meters and how trees can help make homes more energy
efficient. Staff will be on hand to answer questions.
Other features include:
- A bicycle-powered band named Mr. Something Something will play in our
booth over the course of the show;
- Presentations from all of the booth partners - Toronto Hydro will
present topics on green power and the importance of energy
conservation through our programs;
- Attendees can participate in a scavenger hunt to win a seedling as
well as an energy conservation video;
- Participants can enter a contest to win prizes including a visit from
