Soldiers to exercise in Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier and in Fossambault-sur-le-Lac

    VALCARTIER GARRISON, QC, Aug. 31 /CNW Telbec/ - Close to 200 soldiers
from 2 Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment, will take part in an exercise from
September 4 to 6 in the municipalities of Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-
Cartier and Fossambault-sur-le-Lac. This training aims at practising certain
notions related to military operations in support to civilian authorities
carried out on Canadian soil.
Scenarios like patrols, evacuation of injured people, bridge
reconnaissance and crowd surveillance will require the use of about 30
military wheeled vehicles. Nor arms, nor munitions, nor pyrotechnical material
will be used during the exercise.
In addition to testing numerous concepts related to domestic military
operations, the exercise will allow the different groups of soldiers to
develop their cohesion.
