Alex A. Campbell Appointed Chairman Emeritus
STELLARTON, NS, Sept. 12 /CNW/ -Sobeys Inc. announced today that it has
finalized its purchase of British Columbia-based Thrifty Foods. This follows
completion of due diligence and receipt of all regulatory approvals.
The acquisition, announced on July 16, 2007, includes 20 grocery stores
on Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland as well as a distribution facility
in Saanichton, BC.
Sobeys Inc. further announced the appointment of Alex A. Campbell as
Chairman Emeritus, Thrifty Foods. Mr. Campbell will also sit on the Thrifty
Foods Advisory Board.
