    and 23 --

TORONTO, Oct. 16 /CNW/ - Romina and Dario are the next dancers to leave
the stage on So You Think You Can Dance Canada it was announced live on CTV
tonight. Sixteen competitors will move on in the competition and will take to
the stage next Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 8 p.m. ET on CTV with the hope of
becoming Canada's favourite dancer. Next week's episodes feature special guest
judges Kenny Ortega, the Emmy-Award winning director of the upcoming High
School Musical 3: Senior Year, and Canada's own Paul Becker, choreographer for
Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers and the upcoming New Muppet Christmas Special.

The three couples who received the lowest number of votes following last
night's country-wide poll and had to dance for their lives this week were Lisa
Auguste, 27 and Vincent Noiseux, 22, who performed a hip-hop routine; Caroline
Torti, 23, and Jesse Catibog, 29, who performed a hip-hop routine and Romina
D'Ugo, 22, and Dario Milard, 19, who danced a jazz pop routine. After "dancing
for their lives" and performing their solos, the judges deliberated and
decided that Romina, who danced a salsa solo and Dario, who danced a unique
contemporary solo would be sent home.

The Top 18 kicked off the results show with a dance routine that fused
Bollywood and Bhangra, a Punjabi dance form. Choreographed by Southern
California native Nakul Dev Mahajan, who has worked on So You Think You Can
Dance as well as The Office, the performance was a mesmerizing blend of
intricate and synchronized movements. Covering the stage in a wash of colour,
the competitors performed in bright costumes that merged traditional and
contemporary as "Nagada Nagada" from the Jab We Met soundtrack carried them
through the performance.

Next week the competitors will face a new judging panel, as Kenny Ortega
and Paul Becker join Tré Armstrong and Jean Marc Genereux behind the desk.

Emmy Award-winning Ortega is the Director, Producer and Choreographer
behind the popular High School Musical films and will be in Toronto to promote
the premiere of High School Musical 3: Senior Year. The California native has
choreographed for some of the industry's biggest musical artists including
Madonna, Michael Jackson and Elton John. Ortega is also the choreographer
behind the popular films Dirty Dancing, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and TV show
Gilmore Girls.

No stranger to So You Think You Can Dance Canada viewers, Becker is a
Victoria, BC native who appeared as a judge during the audition tour and was
the mastermind behind last week's stunning Top 20 Capoeira group number. A
choreographer, writer, director, stuntman, actor and editor, Becker has worked
with the Jonas Brothers and on The New Muppet Christmas Special.
