investigators from the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) are probing the
circumstances surrounding a police shooting involving the Toronto Police
Service (TPS) at an east Toronto address this morning.

The caller said there was a man there with a knife and a woman was at risk.
Two uniform officers arrived at the apartment and interacted with a man.
During this interaction a police firearm was discharged at least once and the
man was struck. One of the officers received serious knife wounds. A woman was
found deceased at the scene, but her death is the subject of a separate
investigation by the TPS.
A 38 year old man was taken to Sunnybrook Hospital by ambulance where he
underwent surgery for a gunshot wound. Both officers were taken to Sunnybrook
Hospital by ambulance for treatment.
The SIU is appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident to contact
