TORONTO, March 6 /CNW/ - Former Canadian Idol winner Melissa O'Neil and
star of "Degrassi: The Next Generation" Lauren Collins are just some of the
Canadian celebrities who have signed up to help judge the Real Canadian Anthem
Search, a competition offering young Canadians in the GTA and surrounding
areas(*) an exciting chance to sing the national anthem at Air Canada Centre and
win a donation toward their school's music program or the charity of their

Other local celebs and music industry VIPs helping to judge the
competition include former "Rockstar: INXS" contestant and singer-songwriter
Tara Slone, Disney Power Ranger Matt Austin, Nicole Stamp, host of TVOntario's
"Reach For The Top" and "TVOKids: The SPACE", and Lisa Whynot from EMI Music

Sports & Entertainment, the competition includes a category for choir groups
from grades 6 - 8 and soloists from 13 to 19 years of age. Choirs will take
part in two days of regional competitions on March 7th and 21st and soloists
can enter by uploading their video at www.superstore.ca or auditioning
in-person at select Ontario Superstores from February 22nd to March 18th.
Eight from each category will be selected to advance to the finals at Air
Canada Centre on March 26th where a winner from each category will be chosen.
The winning choir group will receive a $3,000 donation toward their
school's music program and will sing at the Raptors game on April 13th. The
winning soloist will sing at the Leafs game on April 3rd and will receive
$1000 in prizes and $2000 to be donated to their charity of choice.
