Vancouver Branch Coordinating Event
NEW YORK, April 27 /CNW/ - While the names of incoming rookies will be
announced from one microphone during Saturday's NFL Draft at Radio City Music
Hall, their selection will be heard by millions around the world.
That one essential component-a single mic-will be provided by AVW-TELAV
Audio Visual Solutions, which will also be responsible for the remainder of
the NFL's audio visual essentials at the draft.
Specialists in audio visual and presentation technology, the Vancouver
Branch of AVW-TELAV will handle all audio and video requirements at Radio City
Music Hall, as well as audio for the NFL's Draft Fan Central, which will be
held outdoors on a closed section of 51st Street in New York.
The scope of work is significant. To assure optimum sound quality within
the 6,000-seat music hall, AVW-TELAV is hanging stacked speakers from the
ceiling of the famed theater. The company will also send audio feeds to radio
and television networks broadcasting the draft, and into three green rooms for
the players, commissioner of the NFL and interviews.
For quality viewing of the Radio City Music Hall stage from any seat,
AVW-TELAV is suspending four mammoth video screens from the theater ceiling.
In addition, five large video screens have been embedded into the stage set
behind the podium; one image will be transmitted across all five screens. Some
15 of the audio visual industry's most powerful projectors will be required to
transmit images to video screens in the hall.
AVW-TELAV will also feed sound from Radio City Music Hall to Draft Fan
Central, where festival-goers can hear and watch draft action on a Jumbotron.
Likewise, sound and video will then be sent back to Radio City Music Hall,
where those in the theater can see the street party.
"We have worked with AVW-TELAV for a number of years on different
projects," says Frank Supovitz, senior vice president, events for the National
Football League. "We are confident their expertise will contribute to the
success of this year's draft."
Although AVW-TELAV was involved in last year's NFL draft, this year's
assignment is much broader, including audio responsibilities for the first
time. "We're pleased to again be a part of this exciting and important event,"
says Warren Cruickshank, general manager of AVW-TELAV's Vancouver office. "We
are committed to executing an event that runs flawlessly."
