Sergio Garcia and David Toms swing into Toronto for the Golf Town Invitational

    Debut event to raise funds for prostate cancer research

    TORONTO, March 29 /CNW/ - Two of the most dynamic stars on the PGA Tour,
Sergio Garcia and David Toms, are headlining the first annual Golf Town
Invitational in support of the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation of Canada
(PCRFC). The sold-out event takes place Monday, May 28, 2007 at the
prestigious Magna Golf Club on the Oak Ridges Moraine in Aurora, Ontario.
    Golf Town along with key presenting sponsors, TaylorMade, BMO Capital
Markets and Rogers, are hoping to raise $200,000 for the PCRFC through this
    Lending their support behind this worthwhile cause are golfing sensations
Garcia and Toms. Both players have spent a considerable amount of time in the
top 10 of the Official World Golf Rankings.
    Since becoming a professional golfer in 1999, Garcia has achieved six
wins on the PGA Tour including the Booz Allen Classic in 2005, the EDS Byron
Nelson Championship in 2004 and the MasterCard Colonial Buick Classic in 2001.
He finished second at the 1999 PGA Championship.
    Toms, a professional golfer since 1989, has posted 12 PGA Tour victories
including one major championship - the 2001 PGA Championship. Other notable
wins include the 2006 Sony Open in Hawaii and the FedEx St. Jude Classic in
2003 and 2004.
    "Sergio Garcia and David Toms are champions on and off the course so we
are thrilled to have stars like them debut at our inaugural event," said

the awareness of the seriousness of prostate cancer since this disease is the

    The Golf Town Invitational will be divided into two separate nine-hole
tournaments. The first event will consist of two corporate nine-hole shotgun
tournaments running simultaneously. Following an awards luncheon and a golf
clinic on the driving range, Sergio Garcia and David Toms will play a
nine-hole exhibition match.
    The nine-hole exhibition match will be televised on TSN and is scheduled
to air on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. EST.
