Sépaq unveils its great Family Experience

QUÉBEC CITY, May 9, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Sépaq's president and CEO John MacKay will today unveil phase two of the great Family Experience, initiated by Sépaq in 2015, in order to facilitate the family experience at Sépaq's various destinations.

"This Sépaq initiative is launched during Québec's Family Week to raise the profile of the outdoor network as a family destination that shouldn't be missed and to encourage young people and their parents to spend quality time together in a natural setting," said Sébastien Proulx, Minister of Education, Recreation and Sports and Minister of Families.

"Spending a day or a vacation in nature is so healthy for children, who have all sorts of energy to burn, while they don't always realize that they're putting together their most beautiful memories. All of Sépaq's destinations are bound by a basic pledge to put family first. What's more, 31 sites, already well adapted to a family clientele, have been designated as family destinations of choice and promise an experience that will be more satisfying than ever," points out Sépaq's president and CEO.

Two main new additions for this year

A Family Experience marker
A new marker will clearly identify experiences that target families. This brand-new trademark will be found on printed material, on our Web site and even on signboarding to highlight an experience especially designed for children by staff trained specifically to receive them.

A major contestA year of family nature vacations
Until October 10, the general public is invited to share a picture of a pleasant family moment during a visit to a Sépaq site. Three grand prizes, each equaling a year of family vacations at Sépaq family destinations, are up for grabs.

Another remarkable new addition for this year is the baby kit, which includes a wide range of articles that families with infants can borrow (high chair, unbreakable dishes, etc.). Youngsters under 18 can also borrow bikes absolutely free of charge. And the young ones will have a special surprise during their stay, while older teens (16 and 17 years of age) will be invited to try out certain sports activities with our compliments.

Working to create a new generation of nature lovers

"I'm convinced that more young people need to be shown just how interesting nature can be. This should begin at a very early age so that a new generation will take part in and sustain Québec's outdoor activities. That's another reason why Sépaq is more family friendly than ever and why the organization is making their nature experience even more accessible. By offering unforgettable outdoor experiences, we're working to create a whole new generation of nature lovers," stated Laurent Lessard, Minister of Forests, Wildlife and Parks.

Although today marks the official launch of the great Family Experience, the implementation plan included certain initiatives in 2015 so as to set just the right tone. For example, the sepaq.com/famille portal, which came online in May 2015, is addressed to families so as to present them with family destinations, offers designed especially for them, and experiences that they're looking for.

Moreover, since 2015, children have been offered complimentary access to most activities and practically all accommodations and establishments, thus providing the organization with renewed youthful vigour. It should be pointed out that free access to cross-country skiing trails and equipment for youngsters under 18 has caused a substantial increase in bookings. Thanks to this initiative, a number of families have tried their hand at sliding across the snow, not once but many times over the course of this past winter.
