SEMAFO TSX-SMF MONTREAL, Nov. 20 /CNW Telbec/ - SEMAFO (TSX - SMF) today announced definition drilling results for the Mana Gold project, Burkina Faso. Located within the Houndé volcano-sedimentary belt, which is known for its gold mineralization potential, the Mana gold project currently holds two important gold deposits, namely the Wona and Nyafe deposits, both deposits are hosted in a volcano-sedimentary belt extending in a north-east direction. Specifically, the Wona deposit sits essentially in meta-sediments consisting of large mineralization, where as the Nyafe deposit is composed of high-grade, narrow structures hosted in sheared volcanic rocks. Over the past months, definition drilling programs have been carried out at Nyafe, and have confirmed ore already identified in previous works. The 2007 RC drilling program objective has been the formal definition of the entire deposit, according to guidelines of the 43-101 Standard. This follows up on core drilling carried out in late 2006 in order to enhance the level of geological understanding of the Nyafe ore body. Both core and RC drilling was executed by Boart Longyear. Works to identify more lenses of the Nyafe structure is under way. RC drilling to date on the Nyafe deposit amounts to 238 holes, most of which have intersected economic gold mineralization, Results feature widths varying up to 14m and gold grade up to 23g/t. Highlights of these works are presented in the table below. The results will be incorporated into the next update of gold reserves to be prepared during the first quarter of 2008. All lengths are downhole lengths; additional information is required to determine true widths. The drilling programs were designed and managed locally by François Sawadogo, Semafo Burkina Faso's Mine Chief Geologist and reviewed and supervised under the direction of Michel Crevier P.Geo MScA, Geology Manager and Semafo's Qualified Person who has reviewed this press release for accuracy and compliancy with the Canadian National Instrument Standard 43-101. All individual drilling samples represent one-meter of drilling which were split in half for cores and RC drill cuttings riffled spit to end to 1kg samples. One half core or a 1kg RC sample was kept on site as a control and an equivalent sized sample was then sent for preparation and gold assaying at the Abilab laboratories in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Each sample was fire assayed for gold content on a 50-gram pulp sub-sample at the same Abilab laboratories. Complementing Abilab's own QA/QC (Quality Assurance / Quality Control) program, a QA/QC program was in place throughout the sampling program, using blind duplicates and recognized industry standards. The common shares of Semafo are traded on The Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol "SMF".
