TORONTO, Nov. 27 /CNW/ - Working towards a goal of collecting
5,000 turkeys in just four days, hundreds of volunteers will be asking Loblaws
customers to donate a turkey for Second Harvest's Annual Turkey Drive.
Second Harvest's Executive Director Zoe Cormack Jones is crossing her
fingers that the public will show their generosity. "We've got a long list of
the agencies that need turkeys; we've got hundreds of volunteers lined up, now
we just need the public to buy the turkeys!"
Amongst the hundreds of programs that will be receiving turkeys from the
turkey drive is St. Felix Centre, a downtown community centre that serves
those experiencing homelessness, mental illness, abuse and malnutrition. The
St. Felix Centre's staff and volunteers will hand out the turkeys to families
in need and will also prepare a hot holiday meal for those without a warm,
safe place to go.
Second Harvest volunteers will be collecting turkeys at Loblaws on the
