TORONTO, Aug. 21 /CNW/ - Sears Canada Inc. has been advised by Little
Tikes(TM) that it is voluntarily issuing two safety notices for the
Craftsman(R)/(MD) Workshop Bench and the Black Pick-up Truck by Little Tikes.
It has been discovered that the oversized plastic toy nails can pose a choking
hazard to young children.
The oversized plastic toy nails are either red or blue and are about 3
1/4 inches (8cm) long by 1 1/4 inch (3 cm) in diameter. The nails have a large
round head. About 1 1/4 inches (3 cm) below the head is a plastic ridge,
slightly smaller than the nail head and about 1 inch (2.5 cm) in diameter.
The affected Craftsman(R)/(MD) workbench was sold through the Sears
Canada catalogue and online at www.sears.ca, between August 28, 2004 and
August 26, 2007. The regular selling price was $129.99. The model number is
0914, and is located underneath the workbench. The corresponding Sears item
number is 64500 and can be found on your sales receipt.
The affected truck was sold through the Sears Canada catalogue and online
at www.sears.ca, between October 20, 2008 and August 10, 2009. The regular
selling price was $99.99. The model number is 4028, and is located on bottom
of unit where the floor boards are located. The corresponding Sears item
number is 20208 and can be found on your sales receipt.
In the interest of consumer safety, Sears Canada advises customers who
own an affected product to immediately stop children from using it. Customers
are asked to contact Little Tikes customer service at 1-800-321-0183, Monday
through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. and Saturday between 9:00 a.m.
and 2:00 p.m. for a free replacement toy nail.
Sears Canada will be posting signs in all of its retail stores to advise
customers of this safety notice. Sears Canada is bringing this matter to your
