TORONTO, Sept. 6 /CNW/ - Sears Canada Inc. has been advised by Mattel,
Inc. of an expanded recall of toys as a result of Mattel's ongoing
investigation of its products manufactured by vendors in China. Sears Canada
carried only one of the nine items recalled in Canada, the GEOTRAX(TM) Rail &
Road System Freightway Transport(TM). Surface paints on the toy might contain
impermissible levels of lead which may be toxic if ingested by a young child.
In the interest of consumer safety, Sears Canada advises customers who
own an affected product to immediately stop children from playing with it.
Mattel will assist customers in arranging the return of their affected toy and
will also mail to customers a voucher for a replacement toy of the customer's
choice, up to the value of the returned product.

Sears Canada will be posting signs in all of its department stores to
