Canada's largest dairy processor announces a five-year plan to support
the Quebec Breakfast Club
BOUCHERVILLE, QC, April 25 /CNW Telbec/ - Saputo Inc. and the Quebec
Breakfast Club share a common goal: the desire to give children the
opportunity to get the most out of their day and the most out of their lives.
Both organizations know that it all starts with good nutrition so to help
achieve this goal, Saputo has just promised its support to the Quebec
Breakfast Club for a period of five years with a donation valued at
$2.6 million. Part of this amount will go to the Quebec Breakfast Club.
Saputo has recently formed a national partnership with the Quebec
Breakfast Club to provide food products and corporate donations for school
nutrition programs across the country. "Saputo has demonstrated an unwavering
commitment to the Quebec Breakfast Club with this donation," says Daniel
Germain, President-Founder of the Quebec Breakfast Club. "To accomplish our
mission, we count on the energy and generosity of people dedicated to
improving the world of children. Saputo has supported us in the past but with
this donation they've achieved a new level of commitment to the health and
well-being of children in Quebec."
By June 2007, the Quebec Breakfast Club will have served breakfast to
15,000 children in 212 schools throughout the province. Each morning,
2,500 volunteers greet the children and serve them a healthy breakfast before
they go to class. This simple gesture allows children to starts their day on
the right foot.
Since its inception, Saputo has contributed to the economic and social
development of the various regions where it is implemented. The Company
decided to focus most of its community efforts on initiatives that support the
development of young people through sports and nutrition. Saputo believes that
children who don't get all of the essential elements to fuel their learning
are at a disadvantage every day and wants to help children succeed in school
by turning this problem around. As a food industry leader, Saputo's commitment
is based on the conviction that a healthy diet, combined with physical
activity, is synonymous with the balanced development of future generations.
Saputo is proud to support the Quebec Breakfast Club as it provides a
real and targeted solution to help children eat right and in turn, succeed in
school and in life. This partnership was a natural fit for the Company.
