TARRYTOWN, N.Y. and SUWON, South Korea, Feb. 16 /CNW/ -- Sandbridge
announced today it has partnered with Samsung to develop an LTE capable
platform based on Sandbridge's cutting-edge technology. Specifically, Samsung
will showcase several LTE devices, including Sandbridge's platform at the
Mobile World Congress in Barcelona February 16-19. The LTE communication
system is powered by Sandbridge's SB3500 flexible baseband processor -- a
multi-core, multi-threaded, dynamically reprogrammable processor.
"The flexibility of the Sandbridge SB3500 platform has been very helpful
to Samsung," said Mr. ByungDuck Cho, Head of Telecom R&D, Digital Media &
Communication Business, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. "Samsung is excited at
the opportunities that the reprogrammability of the SB3500 platform represents
for revolutionizing terminal modem development."
"Sandbridge is proud to partner with Samsung to develop the LTE
platform," said Paul Vroomen, Sandbridge's CEO. "We are excited by this joint
collaboration which embraces a new generation of more powerful and flexible
processors that are also more cost efficient and faster to develop."
Development for the LTE communication system was led by Samsung, with
Sandbridge providing technical support. The implementation resulted in the
development and execution of a fully compliant LTE platform conforming to the
latest 3GPP Release 8 standardization. The Sandbridge platform, ideal for new
OFDMA based standards (Mobile WiMAX, LTE, etc.), has been applied to Samsung's
Mobile WiMAX platform as well.
