Samsung, Iginla and Wickenheiser Get Together for the Game

Hockey heroes to act as ambassadors for Samsung as countdown to Vancouver
    2010 begins

CALGARY, Sept. 17 /CNW/ - As the countdown to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic
Winter Games officially begins, Samsung Electronics Canada has teamed up with
national heroes and Olympians Jarome Iginla and Hayley Wickenheiser to spread
Canada's hockey spirit. Today Samsung, a major supporter of Hockey Canada,
announced that Iginla and Wickenheiser will become official ambassadors of the
company's Get Together for the Game campaign - a national grassroots program
designed to connect fans and communities across the country.
"Hockey is a game that is in Canadians' blood and the passion for the
sport unites the country," said Benjamin Lee, president of Samsung Canada.
"Samsung is a proud supporter of men's and women's hockey in Canada, and of
the Olympic Games, and we look forward to joining with two of Canada's hockey
heroes, Jarome and Hayley to celebrate the game and the excitement leading up
to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games."
Samsung's partnership with Iginla and Wickenheiser will coincide with the
company's role as an official partner of both Hockey Canada and sponsor of the
Olympic Winter Games.
"The next two years will be an especially exciting time for hockey in
Canada, and I'm honoured to be joining with Samsung, a company committed to
supporting sports around the globe, particularly hockey in Canada," said
Iginla. "Our love for the game is a big part of being Canadian, and I look
forward to sharing that excitement with people coast to coast."
"I'm thrilled to be teaming up with Samsung and Jarome to celebrate the
game as we look forward to a monumental moment in Canadian sports history,"
said Wickenheiser. "As a player, I can say that we truly appreciate the
support Samsung shows to Canadian hockey, and as a fan, I'm excited to be a
part of a program that brings the country together."
