    ATLANTA, Oct. 8 /CNW/ -- Project Management Institute (PMI(R)), the
world's leading membership association for the project management profession,
has awarded The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education at Ryerson
University in Toronto, Canada, with the PMI Professional Development Provider
of the Year Award -- academic category. The award recognizes exceptional
skills in the delivery and implementation of a professional development
program in project management.
    The Chang School's Certificate in Project Management Program reaches more
than 1,800 students each year and covers all of the essential components of
effective project management. The program is structured to offer specialized
courses in three academic streams -business and information management;
community and health services management; and architecture, engineering, and
construction. The program's core courses are available online through a
distance learning option and through evening classes. Most instructors (85
percent) work in industry. More than 50 percent of them have earned the
Project Management Professional (PMP(R)) credential, and more than 20 percent
are volunteers in local PMI chapters.
