ST. JOHN'S, Sept. 6 /CNW/ - Rutter Inc. (TSX: RUT) is pleased to announce
that its Technologies division has received contracts from General Dynamics
Land Systems-Canada totaling $1.25 million to manufacture driver's instrument
panels and other electrical assemblies for the RG-31 Mk5 military vehicle.
Being assembled in Lansing, Michigan, the RG-31 is one version of Mine
Resistant and Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles which are being bought from
GDLS-Canada by the United States Marine Corps.
"The RG-31 is in a separate vehicle class from the Stryker Light Armoured
Vehicle (LAV) which Rutter is also under contract to build components for,"
said Paul Griffin, President, Rutter Technologies - Manufacturing Services.
"The procurement of MRAP vehicles has been described as the highest priority
vehicle program in the United States armed forces this year, and delivery on
what we see as an initial order from GDLS-Canada will take place between
November, 2007 and March, 2008."
Commenting on the contracts, Donald I. Clarke, Chairman and CEO of Rutter
Inc. noted, "For almost 20 years we have been a subcontractor to GDLS-Canada,
most recently seeing an expansion in the range of assemblies provided to
support their U.S. military orders for Stryker Light Armoured Vehicles. This
is our first order to provide assemblies for the RG-31 and we are extremely
pleased to be broadening our involvement and strengthening our relationship
with this very important customer. Considering the ongoing requirement for its
capabilities and the priority of the MRAP program within the US military, I
expect that the RG-31 will be in very high demand going forward."
