Rural Schools at risk because of John Tory's questionable judgment

    TORONTO, Sept. 18 /CNW/ - John Tory's questionable scheme to divert $500
million from publicly funded schools to private religious schools puts rural
schools at risk.
As students are siphoned away from schools that act as community hubs,
what will happen to them?
As they say, the best predictor of the future is past behaviour.
For eight years the Conservatives gutted classrooms and then shipped
public money off to private schools. During that time over 600 publicly funded
schools closed while 266 private schools opened.
McGuinty Liberals stand behind publicly funded rural schools. They are
community hubs. That's why we changed the funding formula to recognize unique
needs of rural and northern communities.
But now John Tory wants to put all that at risk again, promising to rip
out $500 million more from publicly funded schools.
It's that kind of questionable judgment that puts Ontario's rural schools
at risk.
