Robert E. Fishman to Leave Calpine Corporation

    SAN JOSE, Calif. and HOUSTON, Sept. 17 /CNW/ -- Calpine Corporation (OTC
Pink Sheets:   CPNLQ) today announced that Robert E. Fishman Ph.D., Power
Operations Executive Vice President, is leaving Calpine to join a solar energy
company headquartered in California, as Chief Executive Officer. Michael
Rogers, Senior Vice President, West Region, will assume the position as
Interim EVP -- Power Operations effective immediately. Dr. Fishman will remain
with Calpine working with Mr. Rogers until mid-October to ensure a smooth

company's 24,000-megawatt portfolio of plants as well as our development and
construction program, said Robert P. May, Chief Executive Officer.  "In
addition, he instilled a strong safety and environmental commitment at

    Before joining Calpine in 2001, Dr. Fishman was president of PB Power,
Inc.  During his nearly 30-year career, he has managed power project
engineering services for more than 6,000 megawatts of gas turbine and
renewable energy projects.  He also has power plant operations experience as a
chief engineer in the U.S. Navy.  Fishman holds a bachelor's degree in
mechanical engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy, a master's and engineer's
degree in mechanical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology,
and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Maryland.  He
currently serves on the board of directors of Century Aluminum Company.
    Michael Rogers has been managing Calpine's operating portfolio of plants
in the US western markets. This portfolio includes 30 plants with a total
generation capacity in excess of 7,500 megawatts. Mr. Rogers has served with
Calpine since 2001 in both operations and development, and has previous
experience in power plant operations, control area operations and energy
trading with Pacific Gas and Electric Company. Mr. Rogers was also Chief
Operating Officer of the Canadian Calpine Power Income Fund from 2005 until
the Fund's sale in 2007. Mr. Rogers is a graduate of the University of
California at Davis with a degree in chemical engineering.
