Customer confidence in Ritchie Bros. unreserved auctions as a fleet
management tool remains strong even in uncertain economic times
TORONTO, May 4 /CNW/ - Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers (NYSE and TSX: RBA), the
world's largest industrial auctioneer, is conducting a two-day multi-million
dollar unreserved auction at the Company's permanent auction site in Toronto,
Ontario from Tuesday, May 5, 2009 to Wednesday May 6, 2009 starting at 8:00
each day (Eastern time). More than 2,200 industrial and transportation
equipment items from 400 consignors will be sold during the public unreserved
auction to the highest bidders with no minimum bids or reserve prices.
"The auction is looking like it will be a big sale. The amount of
equipment that's been delivered to the yard in the last few weeks alone is
unbelievable; we have a full range of industrial and transportation equipment
items to sell," said Brian Dykstra, Regional Manager, Ritchie Bros.
Auctioneers. "Obviously there is a lot of confidence in Ritchie Bros. in the
Ontario market. It really goes to show that in uncertain economic times, our
customers are still certain of the results Ritchie Bros. delivers when it
comes to getting global fair market value for their equipment."
The majority of industrial equipment will be sold during Day One (May 5)
of the auction. The line-up of equipment includes crawler tractors, wheel
loaders, skid steer loaders, motor graders, hydraulic excavators, loader
backhoes, forklifts, compactors and rollers. There will also be an extensive
amount of aerial lifting equipment sold on Day One of the auction, including
134 boom lifts and 106 scissor lifts.
Transportation items will be sold during Day Two (May 6) of the auction.
The diverse range of trucks and trailers being sold in the auction includes
more than 170 truck tractors, 90 van trailers, 70 dump trucks, 55 pickup
