TORONTO, June 14 /CNW/ - Bloorview Kids Rehab Foundation gets a boost
from Reprodux Day at the Races on Sunday, June 17th at Woodbine Racetrack,
hosted by Reprodux Copy Centres. Bloorview, Canada's largest teaching hospital
for pediatric rehabilitation, is a world leader in medical care, research, and
education for children with disabilities.
Reprodux Managing Partner, Kim Long, is the mother of an amazing 8-year
old boy, Robbie, who was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at six months old.
Because of his disability, Robbie can not walk or write. However, with the use
of a computer and power wheelchair, Robbie makes the grade with his friends,
classmates and family. Robbie has a love for fast cars, boats and anything
that moves. His wheelchair is appropriately embroidered, "Robbie's Rocket". He
never lets his disability slow him down.
Each year, more than 6,500 children and their families from across Canada
use Bloorview Kids Rehab's outpatient and community services. Over 300
children receive intensive inpatient rehabilitation following traumatic
accidents, illnesses and surgeries. Outpatient visits total about 51,000 per
Reprodux Day at the Races will be an afternoon of live horse racing,
gourmet food, entertainment, guest speakers, silent auction, and games to
raise funds and awareness for Bloorview Kids Rehab. Corporate partners,
including presenting sponsor Xerox Canada, have provided support to the event.
"We are delighted to be able to support such an amazing place like Bloorview,"
says Ed Robeznieks, Director of Sales at Xerox.
