Renfrew County Teacher Receives ETFO President's Award

    TORONTO, Aug. 16 /CNW/ - Alice Paige of Pakenham has received the 2007
Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO) President's Award.
    The award recognizes an individual who has made outstanding contributions
to ETFO during the past year. Page received the award from outgoing ETFO
President Emily Noble at the federation's annual meeting Wednesday.
    Paige is president of the ETFO Renfrew Teacher Local that is taking the
initiative to support all education workers and the children of Ontario
soldiers serving in Afghanistan.
    In presenting the award, Noble described Paige as a leader who works
tirelessly to bring local issues to national attention. "She is a teacher who
cares about her community and who promotes initiatives that make the lives of
members less stressful so they can focus on teaching."

    The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents more than
70,000 public elementary school teachers and education workers across Ontario
and is the largest teacher federation in Canada.
