Remembering September 11th

Premier Marks 10th Anniversary Of Terrorist Attacks

LONDON, ON, Sept. 11, 2011 /CNW/ - Premier Dalton McGuinty paused today to remember the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

"What stands out most about that day is not the horror, but the humanity and heroism," said McGuinty. "The way people came together, leaned on each other and risked their lives to save one another.  I think of those who were first on the scene — police, paramedics and firefighters — who did their duty and made the ultimate sacrifice."

McGuinty was in London for the dedication of a new memorial in honour of London firefighters who have lost their lives in the service of their community.

"With the dedication of this memorial, families, friends and the public will have a place to pause and reflect on the sacrifice made by firefighters who have served the people of London, and given their lives for our families," said McGuinty.
