Release of OECD report on the performance of 15-year-old students in science, math, and reading

    TORONTO, Nov. 30 /CNW/ - The Honourable Kelly Lamrock, Minister of
Education for New Brunswick and current Chair of the Council of Ministers of
Education, Canada, in conjunction with Human Resources and Social Development
Canada (HRSDC) and Statistics Canada (STC), will present Canada-wide results
from an international study conducted in 2006 by the Organisation for Economic
Co-operation and Development (OECD). The OECD's Programme for International
Student Assessment (PISA) tested over 400,000 students in 57 countries and
economies in three core subjects: science, mathematics, and reading.
    This presentation will cover the comparative performance results of
countries, provinces, and subgroups (e.g., gender, immigrant students), as
well as provide contextual data and key findings. The full Canadian report
will be posted simultaneously on-line at, as well as on the Web
sites of CMEC, HRSDC, and STC.
