Redline's WiMAX system helps Intel connect 4 schools in Malinalco, Mexico

-- Intel leverages RedMAX products to deliver broadband connectivity and
educational services to rural students --

MALINALCO, Mexico, April 2 /CNW/ - Redline Communications Inc., a
provider of standards-based WiMAX and broadband wireless infrastructure
products, and Intel, the world leader in silicon innovation, today announced
the successful deployment of Redline's RedMAX system to establish the advanced
WiMAX network in Malinalco, Mexico, located in a mountainous region
seventy seven kilometers south west of Mexico City. The network deployment is
part of Intel's World Ahead Program which improves education by empowering
teachers and preparing students for success in the global economy through
programs, resources, and the application of advanced broadband wireless
The joint initiative also includes the Union of Entrepreneurs for
Educational Technology (UNETE), a Mexican nonprofit organization whose mission
is to improve the quality of Mexico's public schools by providing computers
and training through broadband wireless connectivity and AXTEL, Mexico's
nationwide carrier who offered logistics, implementation services and the 3.5
spectrum required for the project.
"Partnering with public and private organizations like Redline enables
Intel to drive WiMAX broadband deployments that will reach cities as well as
suburban and rural communities, like Malinalco, that previously were either
impossible or too costly for carriers to pursue," said Pedro Cerecer, Telecom
Sector Manager, Intel Corporation. "Redline's WiMAX system is helping our
World Ahead Program to connect the children and teachers of 4 schools in
Malinalco to the Internet and to the rest of the world, giving them the tools
needed to improve education and prime them for success. This first phase of
the Malinalco network deployment has proven to be so successful that UNETE is
currently considering an expansion to include additional rural communities
across Mexico."
Redline's high performance RedMAX AN-100U base station and SU-O outdoor
broadband wireless subscriber unit combines to form the WiMAX system that
delivers the reliable connectivity needed for this challenging project. The
first phase of the network deployment delivers Internet connectivity to 4
rural schools under non line-of-sight (NLOS) conditions with links up to 4
kilometers distance from the base station.
The network overcomes geographically challenging conditions including
higher mountain elevation and dense forest location where limited visibility
and foliage demanded exceptional NLOS WiMAX performance.
"Redline is very proud to contribute the technology solution that helps
bring Internet service to more than 400 students and their teachers in this
rural part of Mexico. This represents the latest project in which Redline has
joined forces with Intel to deliver advanced broadband services around the
globe," said Kevin Suitor, Vice President, Marketing and Business Development,
Redline Communications Inc. "We commend Intel as one of the world's foremost
companies currently leveraging the benefits of WiMAX to deliver Internet
connectivity and educational tools to cities, remote regions and to more
people worldwide."

    Redline's RedMAX(TM) Family

and Outdoor Subscriber Unit (SU-O) designed for enterprise and residential
services. The RedMAX Management Suite enables operators to monitor and control
the network, ensuring high service availability. Redline is maintaining its
WiMAX leadership with the expansion of its RedMAX family to include products
for additional frequency bands, applications and standards.
