    TORONTO, May 13 /CNW/ - This summer's going to be a scorcher on Global
with a line-up of returning hits and fresh new dramas set to hit the airwaves
in the weeks to come.

    BIG BROTHER is back for its 11th season beginning this July as new guests
cross the Big Brother house threshold. With eyes on the $500,000 grand prize,
the contestants do their best to avoid eviction. Hosted by Julie Chen, the
highly addictive, voyeuristic series promises brand new twists and cheeky
surprises. Full episodes of Big Brother will be available online at and VOD post-broadcast.

    MENTAL, a new one-hour medical-mystery drama premiering Tuesday, May 26 -
9pm ET/PT, follows psychiatrist Dr. Jack Gallagher (Chris Vance, "Prison
Break") as he delves inside his patients' minds to gain a true understanding
of who they are, allowing him to uncover what just might be the key to their
long-term recovery. However, Dr. Gallagher must reconcile his effective, yet
highly unorthodox treatment methods with his conservative boss, Nora Skoff
(Annabella Sciorra, "The Sopranos"), a woman with whom he shares a romantic

    WIPEOUT returns for a second season on Wednesday, May 27 - 8pm ET/PT -
bigger, better and even wilder. The wide-eyed and energized participants
compete in the world's largest extreme obstacle course, providing for some of
the biggest spills and best wipeouts ever.
    Featuring new obstacles including 'Plank in the Face', 'Hurtles' and the
'Gyro Sweeper', each week, 24 daring new contestants of all ages, shapes and
sizes go head-to-head through four rounds of demanding but hilarious
challenges to win the title of "Wipeout Champion" and the $50,000 grand prize.

    IN PLAIN SIGHT is back for its highly anticipated second season beginning
Wednesday, May 27 - 9pm ET/PT. The crime drama follows U.S. Marshal, Mary
Shannon (Mary McCormack, "The West Wing") as she works to relocate and protect
the lives of federal witnesses, many of which are career criminals or
innocents who have had the misfortune of witnessing a crime. Either way, they
share a special bond - someone wants them dead, and Mary's job is to see that
this doesn't happen, all the while managing her own dysfunctional life.

    THE PHILANTHROPIST, the new one-hour drama premieres Wednesday, June 24 -
10pm ET/PT. The series chronicles the heroic adventures of Teddy Rist (James
Purefoy, "Rome"), billionaire playboy turned vigilante philanthropist.
Following a life changing event, Teddy decides to channel his passion, power
and money into helping those in need, however his actions are not just about
helping others - he's purging his soul to help exorcise the inner demons which
have been festering since the death of his young son. Also starring Jesse L.
Martin ("Law & Order") and Canadian Neve Campbell ("Burn Up").
