"Real Time" - To star Randy Quaid and Jay Baruchel

    TORONTO, March 12 /CNW/ - Producers Julia Rosenberg, Paula Devonshire and
Ari Lantos announced that shooting has begun on the comedic drama REAL TIME,
starring Randy Quaid and rising star Jay Baruchel. The film is written by
Randall Cole who will also direct. Filming will take place in and around
Hamilton through March 29th.
    REAL TIME tells the story of hit man, Reuban (Randy Quaid), who gives an
old acquaintance, compulsive gambler Andy (Jay Baruchel), one hour to live.
    "I'm excited to be shooting my second feature with two tremendous lead
actors. Randy Quaid brilliantly portrayed characters in some of my favourite
films and Jay Baruchel is one of the hottest new talents out there," said
director Randall Cole, a graduate of Norman Jewison's Canadian Film Centre
where he made his first feature, 19 MONTHS.
    Randy Quaid's extensive list of feature film credits include THE
upcoming GOYA'S GHOSTS and GARY THE TENNIS COACH. He was nominated for an
Academy Award, Golden Globe and BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actor for THE
LAST DETAIL and an Independent Spirit award for PARENTS. Jay Baruchel appeared
in the Academy Award-winning MILLION DOLLAR BABY, will be seen this summer in
KNOCKED UP and has just been cast to co-star in TROPIC THUNDER for DreamWorks
which he will shoot after REAL TIME.
    "We're thrilled to be bringing Randall Cole, a writer/director with
impeccable comic timing, together with two deliciously funny actors, Randy
Quaid and Jay Baruchel. Indie movies don't get better than this," said
producers Rosenberg, Devonshire and Lantos.

    REAL TIME is being produced by January Films, Devonshire Productions and
APB Pictures. The film is financed by Serendipity Point Films, Telefilm Canada
and Corus Entertainment. Maple Pictures will distribute the film in Canada,
and Serendipity Point Films will act as worldwide sales agent.

    Randy Quaid is represented by IFA Talent and Matt Galsor of Greenberg,
Glusker. Jay Baruchel is represented by Thruline Entertainment, CAA and Jamie
Feldman of Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Adler.
