WINDSOR, ON, May 8 /CNW/ - The Windsor RCMP Commercial Crime Section
executed a search warrant today at a business on Wellington Street in Sarnia.
The search was the result of an investigation into a Ponzie Scheme which has
identified as many as 35 victims across Southern Ontario. Investigators
believe the victims of this scheme invested as much as $2,000,000.00.
A Ponzie Scheme is a fraudulent investment operation that pays returns to
investors from money paid by subsequent investors rather than profit. Interest
payments are made for a period of time to convince the investors that the
investment is legitimate. However the interest payments eventually stop as no
new investors are brought into the scheme and investors are given a multitude
of excuses as to why the payments have stopped and why their investment funds
are not being returned to them.
The investigation has identified-investors in Windsor, Sarnia, Aurora,
and Whitby Ontario and as far as Bridgewater, Nova Scotia.
"At this time 24 of the 35 investors into this scheme have not been
identified. We are asking anyone who may have fallen victim to this scheme to
please contact investigators as soon as possible" stated Cst. Annette
Bernardon of the Windsor RCMP Commercial Crime Section. "It is important that
we talk to anyone who may have invested funds with ForexBaron."
Anyone who has had investment dealings with a company by the name of
ForexBaron should contact the Windsor RCMP Commercial Crime Section at (519)
