WINDSOR, ON, Aug. 9 /CNW/ - The Royal Canadian Mounted Police are opening
the doors of the Windsor Detachment to show potential applicants what could be
waiting for them in a career with the RCMP. Anyone interested in learning more
about a future as a member of the RCMP is invited to attend the Recruiting
open house on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at 6080 Riverside
In addition to RCMP police officers available to answer questions about
the requirements and application process, attendees will have the opportunity
to meet members of specialized sections including the Emergency Response Team,
Explosives Disposal Unit, Forensic Identification Unit, Police Dog Service,
Tactical Troop, Drug Section and members who have participated in missions
with the United Nations. There will also be a demonstration of the circuit
used by the RCMP's to evaluate the physical fitness of applicants.

To apply to the RCMP, you must be a Canadian citizen, 19 years or older
(may begin the application process at 18), of good character, proficient in
English or French and have a high school diploma or equivalent. You must also
possess a valid Canadian driver's licence and meet medical/health standards.
The RCMP is looking for people who are responsible, respectful,
professional, compassionate, honest and have integrity. Once training is
successfully completed, a new member will be posted to any one of our 750
detachments across the country.
