TORONTO, Feb. 29 /CNW/ - RBC Investments Focus List Trust (the "Fund")
today announced a proposed change to the investment objective of the Fund so
that the Fund can continue to track RBC Dominion Securities Inc.'s Focus List
Portfolio (the "List"). Prior to June 1, 2008, the June rebalance date of the
Fund, the universe of securities eligible for inclusion in the List will be
expanded such that other securities, such as units of income trusts, may be
added to the List. In order for the Fund to invest in all securities of
Canadian issuers included within the List (not just issuers of shares), the
investment objective of the Fund needs to be changed.
It is intended that the proposed investment objective of the Fund will be
substantially as follows: "The fundamental investment objective of the Fund is
to provide capital appreciation by purchasing and holding, for successive
quarterly periods, the same securities of Canadian issuers as are announced to
the public by RBC Dominion Securities Inc.'s Equity Selection Sub-Committee as
comprising its Focus List Portfolio".
In addition, the Fund also proposes to change its name to RBC Dominion
Securities Canadian Focus List Portfolio.
The proposed change to the investment objective of the Fund is subject to
the approval of the unitholders of the Fund by way of an affirmative vote of
not less than 50% of the votes cast by the unitholders at a meeting. The Fund
has called a special meeting for April 28, 2008. The record date for the
meeting is March 28, 2008. All unitholders of record on the record date will
have one vote for each whole unit of the Fund held on that date.
A notice of meeting and management information circular will be mailed to
unitholders in coming weeks.
If approved by unitholders at the meeting, it is intended that the trust
agreement of the Fund will be amended and the changes will be effective on or
about April 28, 2008.
