/R E P E A T/ - The largest employment fair in Québec dedicated to the Life Sciences will feature 500 open positions - The Montréal Invivo Life Sciences Career Fair slated for september 23 and 24

    MONTREAL, Sept. 12 /CNW Telbec/ - Québec's largest employment fair
dedicated to the Life Sciences will be held in Montréal on September 23 and
24. Recent graduates and experienced professionals alike are invited to this
third edition of the Montréal InVivo Career Fair, which will notably feature
some 500 open positions throughout the province.
The event, spearheaded by Montréal InVivo, enjoys tremendous success
thanks to the dedicated efforts of a number of partners, among them BIOQuebec,
Pharmahorizons, AITS (Association of Health Technologies Industry), Canada's
Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies (Rx&D) and Pharmabio Développement.
This year, organizers estimate that over 2,000 job seekers will attend
the event, where they can meet with representatives from renowned companies
such as Anapharm, CIRION, GlaxoSmithKline, Investors Group and BioTalent
"In addition to reflecting the sector's dynamism, an event of such scope
propels new-generation research scientists to join a competitive industry that
is experiencing rapid growth and contributing to the region's economic
development," states Montréal InVivo General Manager Carl Viel. "The Montréal
InVivo portal serves as an effective interface between companies and
candidates, both in Canada and abroad, while also incorporating a wealth of
information on the Life Sciences cluster, including the most recent job
Mario Lebrun, the Executive Director for BIOQuebec, reiterates the
importance of a qualified labour force in ensuring the dynamism of an industry
that plays a key role in the Montréal economy. "Innovation and creativity are
at the core of advances in the Life Sciences sector. This career fair is
designed as a forum for promoting exchanges between the most dynamic Québec
companies and the best research scientists in the field."
Each year, Life Sciences companies create thousands of high-level jobs in
the Greater Montréal area. According to Pharmahorizons Vice President Mark
Gregory, "... the Montréal InVivo Career Fair is the perfect opportunity to
learn more about fast-growing companies in the Life Sciences sector."
The Director General of AITS, Daniel Laplante, concurs. "This event
underscores the need of health technologies companies to recruit qualified and
specialized human resources," he states.
The industry, which already accounts for over 40,000 high-level jobs in
the region, includes some of the world's most talented researchers, employees
and graduates. For Rx&D President Russell Williams, this dynamism is partially
explained by recent government initiatives, among them "improvements to
Canada's information protection policy and the new drug policy in Québec, both
of which promote an environment where innovation in the area of Life Sciences
makes it possible to create stimulating and rewarding jobs and a wealth of
opportunities for young research scientists."
Participants will be able to attend various conferences where they can
hone their job-hunting strategies while learning more about the chal enges
faced by the Life Sciences industry in Québec.
Free of charge to job seekers, the Montréal InVivo Career Fair will be
held at Montréal's Holiday Inn Midtown on Sunday, September 23 from 11:00 a.m.
to 5:00 p.m. and on Monday, September 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event
venue is close to the McGill and Place-des-Arts metro stations.
