    MONTREAL, March 19 /CNW Telbec/ - Media representatives are invited to
attend the opening plenary of AMERICANA 2007, the International Environmental
Technology Trade Show and Conference. The Minister of Economic Development,
Innovation, and Export Trade, Raymond Bachand, will speak at the plenary, and
Jean Lemire, Leader of "Antarctic Mission," will present a lecture and
slideshow on the "Arctic Mission." This lecture, based on his voyage to the
Antarctic, is intended to show the effects of climate change on the great ice
continent, and provoke thinking on the major issues facing our society today.

    AMERICANA 2007 will take place from March 20 to 22 at the Montréal
the event, more than 160 speakers will discuss current environmental issues
with the 10,000 participants expected from more than 60 countries. Prime
Minister Stephen Harper will act as Honorary President of this 7th edition of
AMERICANA. Created in 1995 and held every two years, AMERICANA is organized by
RESEAU environnement.
