5th Annual Queen's Park Barbecue and Lobby Day
featuring flavourful smoked Ontario Corn-Fed Beef Tenderloin
The Ontario Cattlemen's Association Board of Directors
Culinary Activist, Anita Stewart
Tuesday June 3, 2008
11:30am - 1:30pm
South Lawn of Main Legislative Building
The barbecue is being held to show appreciation to Ontario's MPPs for
their assistance to the beef industry in the past, and to seek
continued support in the future.
Why You Should Attend:
Come out to taste some great Ontario Corn-Fed Beef!
For Ontario beef producers, 2007 was a year that many would rather
forget. A combination of factors, including government regulations, a
rising Canadian dollar, lack of access to key markets and high input
costs force many producers to question their future in the beef industry.
In 2008, we are continuing to face a number of challenges, and these put
us at a competitive disadvantage and negatively impact us financially.
This event will allow Ontario MPPs and you, the media, to meet with
grassroots beef producers and help to tell the great story of Ontario
beef as a product and why bringing that product to market is such a
challenge with the current cost-price squeeze.
The Ontario Cattlemen's Association (OCA) is a grassroots organization
that provides leadership to Ontario's beef farmers. OCA is involved in a
wide range of issues that are of concern to our membership, including:
trade, animal health and environment issues.
