    Scotiabank calls on hockey fans to build creative replicas of the Cup

    Live 'Build-off' in downtown Toronto will feature the real Stanley
    Cup(TM), NHL alumni and 10 teams to inspire the public

    TORONTO, March 7 /CNW/ - Canadians, get out your duct tape, soup cans,
car parts or pasta noodles - it's time to 'Build Stanley(TM).' In a new
contest that challenges hockey fans to build replicas of the Stanley Cup using
ordinary materials, Scotiabank will recognize Canada's creative spirit and
send two winners and their guests to a Stanley Cup Final game.

    What:     To launch the contest, Scotiabank is hosting a live
              'build-off' event at Toronto's Dundas Square on Friday
              March 14th, 2008. The launch event will feature 10 teams from
              across the city representing a range of different industries
              who will build Cups to be entered in the contest. The real
              Stanley Cup will be present at the event to inspire the teams
              and NHL Alumni Johnny Bower and Mark Napier will be on hand to
              cheer teams on. Scotiabank will make a donation of $500 on
              behalf of each team to a charity of their choice.

    When:     Friday, March 14, 2008 (Set-up 8 a.m./Build-off 9 a.m. -
              11 a.m.)

    Where:    Dundas Square, corner of Yonge and Dundas Streets, downtown

              -  Teams building Cups for a donation to the charity of their
                 choice. Their Cups will be entered in the Build Stanley
                 contest, and will include cups made from: pastries, various
                 cheeses, stubby beer bottles, art supplies, cutlery and
                 more! Charities to include World Wildlife Fund Canada, Make
                 A Wish Foundation, ALS Society etc.
              -  The Stanley Cup(TM) - families and fans alike are invited to
                 come out to get their photos taken with the 'Cup'! It's a
                 great activity for March Break!
