OTTAWA, Sept. 19 /CNW Telbec/ - The Code Blue for Child Care campaign
will hold a theatrical event in Ottawa to draw attention to the urgent need
for properly funded child care in Canada.

Parents, children, child care staff and advocates from across Canada will
gather for a race against similar countries to demonstrate Canada's
bottom-of-the-barrel funding commitment to early learning and child care
Canada comes in last among 14 similar countries in spending on early
learning and child care programs, according to a report by the Organization
for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Code Blue is calling on all
party leaders to commit $1.2 billion for early learning and child care
programs in the first year.
Code Blue is a Canada-wide campaign to build a real pan-Canadian child
care system. The campaign brings together national, provincial and territorial
child care organizations, labour, women's and social justice groups along with
Canadians from all walks of life.
