    Canadian Blood Services celebrates a decade of saving lives

    OTTAWA, Sept. 10 /CNW Telbec/ - It will be a historic night when Retired
Justice Horace Krever and journalist André Picard help Canadian Blood Services
celebrate its 10th anniversary and recognize more than 30 individuals and
organizations who represent the hundreds of thousands of blood and stem cell
donors, volunteers, community groups, sponsors and partners from across
    The Honouring our Lifeblood event will be held at the Canada Museum of
Science and Technology on Monday, Sept. 15. It will mark a major milestone for
Canadian Blood Services, as it celebrates a decade of saving lives since it
was created in 1998 following recommendations from the Krever Commission of
Inquiry on the Blood System in Canada.
    The 2008 honourees are community role models who have helped to lead the
transformation of Canada's blood system over the past 10 years and will
continue to lead by passing their selfless spirit on to their children, their
colleagues and their students.

             columnist with The Globe and Mail who chronicled the tainted-
             blood crisis

organization that manages the supply of blood and blood products in all
provinces and territories outside of Quebec. Canadian Blood Services also
